OAV
means Original anime video, the anime is only for selling.
Another two OAVs preceded the 1992's one. They were made in
1978 and they are about some moments of the story, showed in
the series. The last OAV has very different designs, due to
the time passed and the advance in the animation techniques.
In example every kid has a more child like face.
The plot is a bit far from the original, it is not explained
whe Candy meets the Prince of the Hill, and Aunt Elroy seem
like a sweet old lady that even she lend Candy a dress. But
it also have some similar things to the manga, on the contrary
as in the series, Candy is found a spring morning (in the series
a cold winter night), and Annie is blond. In order you can see
this changes here it is a summary. 
It starts with a new version of the series opening, the you
can see an introduction to the story: we can see Pony's home
and a baby abandonned in its door. Miss Pony and Sister Mary
pick her and name her Candice White. Afterwards it is shown
Candy's childhood next to Annie, until Annie is adopted.
Candy
stays in the orphanage until she's 12 and a rich family contract
her as a lady companion. Candy leaves when all the children
are asleep.
On the way to the Reegan's, Candy remembers every good memory
happened in Pony's Home.
Finally
when she arrives, Reegan's children show their scorn and throw
her a bucket full of water and the girl, named Elisa, says she
doesn't need a companion, but Candy salutes her with a beautiful
smile.
Candy
is happy because, now she has a room only for herself and decides
to clean it and make it more comfortable. But Neil enters while
she is changing her clothes and he makes her angry.
Elisa
and Neil, only try to make Candy's life miserable and put traps
to make their mother punish her. But Candy realize that and
she fights with Neil, at the end she wins but she get punished
again.
She
runs out, because she doesn't want to go back to that house,
finally she falls down and she meet a handsome boy who tells
her she's prettier when she's smiling. Candy blushes and looks
down, and she looks at him again he's not there anymore.
Candy
decides to be stronger and try to learn everything she can.
Elisa is going to a party and she invites Candy to laugh at
her, but Candy is brave and she wants to go. When they arrive
at the house where the party is, Candy sees the door of the
roses where she meets the handsome boy.
There
three boys are waiting, and between them Anthony, the boy Candy
met. Those boys like Candy and don't pay attention to Elisa.
In the party, one of the boys, makes Candy laugh and disturb
aunt Elroy when she were talking. But Archie tells everybody
that it's his fault.
Candy is having a great time, until Elisa orders her to go
to the kitchen, in the way to the kitchen Candy meets Annie
but she doesn't talk to her in order not to make her ashamed.
Elisa and Neil take Candy to a dark room and locked the door.
Candy is so afraid that she faints.
When
Candy wakes up, Anthony is with her and he says that someone
has been looking for her, it's Annie, the two friends embrace
theirselves and become friends again. Then they go to the party.
Aunt
Elroy lends Candy a dress and she becomes the most beautiful
of the party. She dances with Anthony all the night long.
At the end Candy is writing a letter to her two mothers and
says that she is very happy because of Annie and Anthony and
she will try to learn more, in spite of Elisa and Neil.
In
the ending Candy and Anthony are riding a horse through the
border of a lake with the song of the ending of the series.
