General Info
Candy Candy was the more important shojo phenomenon
in its time, it even surpassed in sales to some manga dedicated
to the masculine public. It got to break records of sales, between
the manga, books and merchandising. The anime series was reboadcasted
worldwide, causing rage in countries like Italy and France.
In Italy it arrived to such an extent that they made a continuation
of the manga.
Part of its success is based on the message that
the series has, in which the main character makes sample of
a great force and braveness to face the adversities that the
destiny presents, many desires to live and an immense patience
towards them who make her life to be more difficult, and mainly
hope. She is an orphaned girl far from the so habitual super
heroes in whom the children identify themselves easily, this
youngster girl is an example of joy to live, of honesty and
kindness, also she has the great humor and good-natured, in
additiona courage and a valour to surpass the bad plays of the
destiny.
The following are the 9 parts of the manga:
The creators of the manga were Yumiko Igarashi,
who took charge of the drawings, and Kyoko Mizuki, who made
the script. They were the result of the boom that happened in
the 60's in Japan, where shojo began to be commercial and to
be enough successful. The two demonstrated their worth to several
publishers, until a day they meet each other and they decided
to make the manga that projected to them towards a worldwide
fame. The publication of the manga was and 1975 and consists
of 9 volumes with a total of more than 3000 pages. They also
did two artbooks of Candy

A year later Toei. Animation took the story to
tv screen, the anime consisted of 115 episodes and it was until
´79 in antenna. Where Kyoko Mizuki, whose true name is
Keiko Nagita, was in charge of the letters of the songs, Mitsuo
Shindo became position of the designs and Takeo Watanabe of
melodies of the songs. But the differences between the manga
and anime are remarkable in spite of following the guidelines
of the original authors of the manga, according to Kyoko Mizuki.

In 1992 the last Candy Candy OAV was for sale, it was also titled
"Candy Candy", it lasts more or less half an hour
and it's about the childhood of Candy in the Pony's Home. To
this one they preceded two in 1978, the first one made in March
was titled "Candy Candy Haru no Yobigoe", and it happened
during the Saint Paul school when Candy goes to the spring festival.
The second was made in July and it was called "Candy no
Natsuyasumi", it occurs on the summer that Candy passed
in Scotland next to Terry.
At the moment the authors of the manga maintain
a legal conflict, that maintains paralyzed the merchandising
of Candy Candy, therefore the permissions of emission in antenna
too. The conflict began when Yumiko made sales using the image
of Candy Candy without making contributor of the benefits to
Kyoko, when the rights of author of Candy Candy are of the two
to equal parts. So Kyoko interposed a demand to Yumiko , the
judgment lasted three years, until in March of the 2000 judge
he considered sentence in favor of Kyoko Mizuki, but Yumiko
appealed and to the aim, the 25 of October the judge sentenced
again in favor of Mizuki. Agreed with this Mizuki judgment the
Co-creator of Candy Candy has been confirmed as and has the
rights of copyright next to Igarashi. The desire of Mizuki is
that Candy Candy is re-emitted again, but there will be a problem
since Igarashi also is in judgment with TOEI. Animation, that
has the rights of the videos of Candy Candy.
